WRTA to show off Perrone Robotics accident-avoidance technology on bus

(Youngstown WFMJ)—Perrone Robotics will showcase its advanced TONY/MAX driver-assistance and accident-avoidance technology during a demonstration on a Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) bus on Tuesday, September 9 at Stambaugh Auditorium. Funded by a $1.98 million federal grant, the TONY/MAX system includes features such as Forward Collision Avoidance, Automated Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assistance, Blind Spot Detection, and Side-Impact Alerts—all aimed at enhancing transit safety. The event will begin with a press conference featuring notable speakers, including representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation and local officials, followed by a live demonstration on a test course outside the auditorium.
