Jeff Genyk Named Head of Sports Ventures
CapStone Holdings appoints Jeff Genyk head of sports ventures to help develop opportunities across GameAbove Sports, 21X SPORTS and its broader portfolio.
CapStone Holdings Inc. has named Jeff Genyk head of sports ventures, adding an experienced business, athletics and media leader to help develop opportunities across its growing portfolio.
Working across the portfolio and in collaboration with existing leadership, Genyk will help identify, evaluate and develop opportunities across GameAbove Sports, 21X SPORTS and other ventures throughout the industry. The role gives CapStone an additional point of coordination as its companies pursue distinct but increasingly complementary opportunities.
“Jeff brings a valuable combination of business experience, sports leadership and relationship-building skills,” said Ashley Beal, CapStone's chief of staff. “He understands how to lead people, evaluate opportunities and work across organizations, making him a strong fit to help advance CapStone’s sports ventures through GameAbove Sports and 21X SPORTS.”
Experience Across Business, Athletics and Media
Genyk’s background spans private business, collegiate athletics and sports media. Before entering college coaching, he spent a decade in business. He later served as head football coach at Eastern Michigan University and held coaching and football operations roles at Northwestern University, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Wisconsin and Vanderbilt University.
His tenure included work with conference championship teams at Northwestern and Wisconsin. He also served as an ESPN color analyst for Atlantic Coast Conference football games, adding a media perspective to a career built around leadership, preparation and relationship development.
“I am thrilled to join CapStone and work with Keith Stone and the broader team,” Genyk said. “CapStone has a proven record of building businesses and positively affecting communities. I look forward to bringing my experience across business, athletics and media to help develop opportunities throughout its sports portfolio.”
Connecting the CapStone Portfolio
The appointment comes as CapStone expands its activity across the sports industry. As the parent company of both GameAbove and 21X, CapStone can connect market experience, operating relationships and technology across its portfolio while each business remains focused on its own mandate.
GameAbove Sports focuses on global business development and strategic investments across teams, franchises, leagues, events, related companies and community initiatives. Its experience across athlete management, partnerships and youth development provides a broad view of the relationships and operating priorities that shape the industry.
21X, formerly known as Structurely, recently launched 21X SPORTS, a business vertical owned by 21X and developed in partnership with GameAbove Sports. The platform applies 21X’s AI engagement infrastructure across voice, SMS and email to help organizations pursue incremental revenue from existing fan and customer relationships.
Genyk’s portfolio-wide role is designed to help CapStone evaluate where those capabilities, relationships and resources can reinforce one another. He will work alongside existing leadership to identify opportunities, assess fit and support disciplined development across the portfolio.
A Mandate Across the Portfolio
CapStone’s approach combines long-term capital with operating support and collaboration among experienced leaders. Genyk’s appointment adds industry perspective and relationship-building capacity to that model as GameAbove Sports and 21X SPORTS pursue complementary growth areas.
Genyk holds an MBA from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University, where he played quarterback and punter.
