Vice President, Investments & President, GameAbove Engagements at EMU

Chao Sun is a multifaceted individual who wears several hats as a lecturer, entrepreneur, relationship manager, and community builder. He spends much of his time as the president of GameAbove engagements at Eastern Michigan University. In this role, Chao manages the organization's relations and strategic academic public-private partnerships with EMU.

Apart from his duties as president, Chao also works as a private equity investment manager for CapStone Holdings Inc. In this capacity, he maintains relationships with investment banks and local investor/startup community members, sources investment opportunities, manages internal due diligence streams, supports portfolio companies, and collaborates with senior team members on strategy and negotiations.

Chao is also a lecturer at EMU and the co-founder and CFO of The Back Office Studio, a coworking community of professionals working together to create positive futures in Ypsilanti. As a first-generation immigrant from China, Chao came to the US to earn his master's degree in Human Resource Management and Organization Development from EMU. He has also earned his Certificate in Entrepreneurship from EMU.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Chao is actively involved in philanthropy and community work. He co-chairs the Leadership Council at First United Methodist Church and serves as a Board Member at Washtenaw Association of Business of Color and Neighborhood Theatre Group.
